How it works

Your blinds follow the day. You step in only when you want to.

A day at home

14:00

  • 07:00Sunrise. The blind opens.
  • 13:00Strong sun on the glass. It lowers to half.
  • 16:00The sun moves round. It opens again.
  • 19:30Sunset. It closes.

An example. You set your own times in your home app, or tie them to sunrise and sunset.

What you need

A Stilba blind or curtain

The motor is built in, and it is designed to join a Thread smart home.

A home hub with Thread

Also called a Thread border router. You may own one already: a HomePod mini is one example.

The app you already use

Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, SmartThings or Home Assistant.

Setting up

  1. 1

    Scan the code.

Each motor is planned to come with a set-up code. Your app reads it with the camera.

  2. 2

    Name the room.

Bedroom, landing, kitchen. Voice control uses these names.

  3. 3

    Set your times.

Fixed times, or sunrise and sunset. Change them whenever you like.

It talks to your home. Not to us.

  1. A tap on your phone.
  2. Your home hub picks it up.
  3. Plug-in Thread lamps and sockets pass it on, room to room.
  4. The blind moves. The message never left your home.

At home, the message stays on your own network. If the internet drops, control at home carries on. Control from outside your home goes through your hub and the internet.

If something drops out

  • The internet. Control at home carries on. Control from outside waits until it is back.
  • The hub. The blinds stay where they are. Your phone, voice and schedules reach them again once it is back. A second hub on the same app keeps things running in the meantime.
  • A battery blind. Battery blinds rest between messages, so they do not pass messages on. Plug-in Thread devices do that job.

Not sure what you have at home? Tell us your hub and your app, and we will tell you what works.
