Find your window

Seven windows found in most British homes. Tap the one that looks like yours.

Bi-fold doors

A whole wall of glass that folds away.

Suits

Watch for

Leave room beside the opening for curtains to stack clear of the folded doors.

Back to the house ↑

Sliding patio doors

Two big panes, one of them moves.

Suits

Watch for

Draw to the side the door slides open, so you can walk straight through.

Back to the house ↑

French doors

A pair of glazed doors onto the garden.

Suits

Watch for

If the doors open into the room, fit blinds on each door or curtains that clear the frame.

Back to the house ↑

Bay window

Three panes, three angles.

Suits

Watch for

Measure each pane on its own, and leave a small gap where the blinds meet in the corners.

Back to the house ↑

Bedroom window

The window every house has.

Suits

Watch for

A blind inside the recess leaves thin lines of light at its edges. For a darker room, fit it outside the recess or add curtains.

Back to the house ↑

Landing window

Too high to reach. The best reason to motorise.

Suits

Watch for

Measure from a steady ladder with someone holding it, or use a laser measure from the stairs.

Back to the house ↑

Roof lantern

Glass overhead lets in the most sun of all.

We do not offer roof lantern blinds yet. Send us its size and we will tell you when we can.

Watch for

Each glass panel is a different shape, so each needs its own measurement.

Measuring, the short version

width height
Inside the recess
width height
Outside the recess
  • Inside the recess: measure the width at the top, middle and bottom, and the height on the left, centre and right.
  • Outside the recess: measure the area you want to cover, plus some overlap on each side so light cannot slip round the edges.
  • Send us all the numbers. We do the maths.

Something more unusual? Send us a photo and your three measurements.
